Description
The Traxxas 5882R is a pair of assembled, pre-glued tire and wheel units for the 2WD front position, built for racing: SCT Split-Spoke satin chrome wheels with a black beadlock-style ring, licensed Kumho tires in the ultra-soft S1 off-road racing compound, and foam inserts.
S1 is the softest compound Traxxas offers. On the front axle of a 2WD short course truck it makes a real difference, since front grip is what determines how hard the truck can be driven into a corner. The trade-off is tread life, which drops sharply on abrasive surfaces, so most racers keep an S1 front set for race day.
The Kumho tread pattern uses closely spaced blocks for a large contact patch, well suited to packed dirt, groomed clay and indoor tracks. On a 2WD Slash the fronts are narrower than the rears, so this part does not interchange with rear or 4X4 sets; the standard-compound version is 5882.
The beadlock ring is molded styling. These arrive glued with inserts fitted and mount straight to the hex.
